Planning page for the 3d NEGOM-CH cruise N3.

Update 15-July-1998

There has been a slight change of plan. The N3 cruise will depart from the city dock in Gulfport, MS
not the NMFS dock in Pascagoula. I have updated all the files below to reflect this change.

By my (new) calculations the cruise will take 10.88 days from Gulfport to the last station which is the shallow end of line 1 (N3L01S01C) and will cover 3250 km (1755 nm). May most of your watches occur during the cross-line tracks.

• n3plan.txt: Ship track including all ctd, xbt, and waypoints, in order, with expected depths.
• n3spot.txt: GERGNAV "SPOT" format for the GERGNAV navigation computers.
• n3deg.txt: Similar to n3plan.txt without the depths (for the bridge).
• n3dms.txt: Similar to n3deg.txt but in degrees and decimal minutes (also for the bridge).
• n3ctd.txt: Listing of CTD stations only with expected depths.
• n3xbt.txt: Listing of XBT stations only with expected depths.
• negom03.loc: N3 plan with ETAs for each station and anticipated watch schedule.

29 drifters will be deployed for Dr. Jim Price of MMS following the same deployment plan as on N2.
6 profiling Alice floats may be deployed for the NOPP program at the deep end of Line 11.

The N3 cruise will occupy 99 CTD stations, including a test station, and will drop 98 XBTs.
